Just One Word Can Change Your Life

Are you ready to finally have your best year ever? Are you ready to finally set a goal for the New Year and keep it? There is a way to make it happen. And it’s so simple it’s crazy.

Many of us set numerous goals at the beginning of the year. We want to lose weight, get in shape, budget, read more, spend more time with family, vacation more, spend less time on social media and on and on and on!

These are all great things… And yes we should all do them. But when you’re focused on so many things you can’t do any of them well. And because of it… We tend to fail at all of it.

But what would happen if you just focused on one thing?

What if you just picked one of the things you wanted to accomplish in 2016 and put all of your focus on that?  Let me tell you what happens. You’ll accomplish that goal because you’re not overwhelmed with all of the others.

I began doing this back in 2014. And it has changed my approach to life. For two years now… I’ve accomplished what I wanted to accomplish for the year.

Here’s what I do:

1: Pick One Word

This is sort of like your theme for the year. It’s the main thing you want to accomplish. And hold tight to that word everyday. Write it down over and over. Put it up in your bathroom or car mirror. Somewhere you’ll see it everyday.

So maybe it’s

  • Fitness
  • Budget
  • Family
  • Adventure

My words the past few years have been (Selah) which means to pause and reflect. It reminds me to slow down and enjoy the journey. And the other was (Adventure) which encouraged me to get out and see the world! And I did just that!

This year my word is (Discipline.) I want to be more disciplined in certain areas of my life. So every time I got out to do something… I pass what I’m about to do through this word. It has already helped me make better decisions within the first few days.

All it takes is one word.

2. Stay With Your Word

You may have moments where you don’t get it right. It’s ok. That doesn’t mean quit or abandon the word all together. Just pick back up where you left off.

Remember a year is a long time. You have 365 days to get it right. And with this being you only focus… You’ll have plenty of time to concentrate on it.

That’s it! It’s that simple!

I guarantee you’ll end 2016 feeling more confident in yourself. Because you set out to achieve a goal and you did it. No… You may not have achieved every goal. But you at least got one.

And when you string together a few years like this… You’ll be the person you’ve always wanted to be in no time.

Cheers to a fantastic 2016! Can’t wait to see what all it has in store for us.
