2 Important Truths for Success!

Success…  We all want it! Most are willing to do whatever they have to do to get it. We almost feel entitled to it. And we want it as fast as possible. Yet success in life rarely comes quick. There are a lot of “behind the scene” moments that lead up to your big break.

But most of us truly hate the small things. We see them as insignificant. So we do a halfway decent job while dreaming of the day that you will run your own business, or be the Principle of the school, or President of the United States! You think “If people only saw the potential you had, they would know you’re better than this job you’re currently holding”…

Our eyes can sometimes get caught on where we want to go and that’s all we see.  We can’t see the journey of who we’re becoming in the process. And to be honest… that’s really the most important part of the journey.

It’s the character you’re developing along the way that will propel you into success…

We see this in the life of David…

When you say David…  Most go right to his successes. Giant killer. Great King. Man after God’s own heart. Yet what we skip over is the fact that day in and day out… David was a shepherd. The worst job you could possibly have. Here is this guy with all the potential in the world spending the day watching sheep eat and sleep…

But David was faithful to the job he had. He showed up everyday. And was faithful to the task when nobody but God was watching…

We can learn 2 Important Truths for the Shepherd Boy…. Not the King!

1. We prove ourselves capable of big things in our faithfulness to the small things!

You want a better job than the job you have now…  Why don’t you show up to work earlier then everyone else. Work hard. Stay focused. And go above and beyond. Who else really does that?!?!  The people who want to be promoted… That’s who…

2. When God develops inner qualities, He’s never in a hurry!

We want God to do a work in us fast so we can move on to the next thing in life… It doesn’t work that way. The main thing that God does in a moment is salvation. And although souls are saved in a moment, character is developed only with time!

So you have to know that whatever season and place you are in right now… God has you there for a reason. Be faithful in that season. But it’s going to take time for you to become the person that he created you to be.

It’s the process of becoming!
